Privacy

Tank & Tankless collects almost nothing: there are no accounts, forms, comments, analytics or ad trackers, and the only records kept are standard server logs.

What this site collects

This site has no user accounts, sign-up forms, newsletter, comment sections or contact form. It runs no analytics scripts, advertising trackers or tracking pixels. You can read every page without giving any personal information.

Server logs

The company that hosts this site keeps standard server logs, as nearly every web host does. A log entry records your IP address, your browser's user agent string, the time of the request and the page or file requested. These logs are used for security and operations, such as spotting attacks, fixing errors and keeping the site running.

Videos

Some pages include a video. Videos do not load until you press play. Before that, the page shows only a thumbnail image, which your browser fetches from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com). That request, like any web request, shares your IP address with that server.

When you press play, the video loads through YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com). From that point, YouTube's own privacy policy applies to the video.

Page fonts load from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). Like any web request, this sends your IP address and browser details to Google so the font files can be delivered.

Many pages link to outside sites such as federal agencies, maker manuals and, on a few pages, two water treatment stores with the same owners as this site (see ownership and store links). Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies.

Changes

If the way this site works changes, for example if a new service is added that receives visitor data, this page will be updated and its revised date will change. More about the site is on the about page.
